| WHAT IS THE GLYCEMIC INDEX (GI)? |
| In short, the glycemic index is a way for you to understand the difference between carbohydrates and to understand how each carb affects your blood glucose differently. Here is a list of what the glycemic is and what is does:
*All foods react differently in our bodies!
*The GI ranks foods based on how they affect our blood glucose levels.
*Low GI foods release glucose slow and steadily!
*Low GI foods help decrease your risk of heart disease!
*Low GI foods help control diabetes by increasing your bodies’ sensitivity to insulin!
*Low GI foods help to decrease cholesterol!
*Low GI foods help to decrease hunger and give you a greater sense of satiety!
*Low GI foods assist greatly with weight loss and will help increase your overall energy levels!
**When you look at the rankings of foods on the glycemic index you want to stick to foods that are ranked as 55 and below! These are considered low glycemic foods, the lower the better!
